Esoteric Women's Health Newsletter January 2018

Welcome to our January newsletter. As we head into 2018 when many are making 'New Year's resolutions', we are asking the more important question – how can we deepen the commitment to truly caring for ourselves every day throughout the year rather than just the one-off time? Can we deeply care for ourselves on a regular basis? Or are we stuck and just trying to 'break bad habits' come January?

This newsletter we explore the theme of preciousness.

  • Do we consider ourselves precious?
  • Or is that word completely unknown to us?
  • Do we consider we could treat ourselves with the same tender love and care that we would treat a newborn child?
  • Or do we think preciousness means being slow or weak, and we’ve got too much on our plate to add that!

Read below and enjoy a number of articles that explore this topic and more.

Also included are some Feature Recipes – new ways to support your body with food that is truly nourishing – as well as details of many upcoming events including:

  • The Girl to Woman Festival in January,
  • The Women in Livingness Relationship Workshop in February,
  • The Breast Cancer Care Retreat in March, and
  • Our Well-being for Women events held regularly throughout the world.

Make sure you also check out our article on Esoteric Yoga and how it can support us to hold dear our relationship with our body as fundamental to our relationship with ourselves.

With love,

Discovering Preciousness

by Suzanne Anderssen

Have you ever bought a gorgeous, special piece of clothing that is hand wash only, to eventually find yourself tossing it into the washing machine with a load of other clothes?

Or what about bought a nice pair of sunglasses, vowed to treat them preciously and always put them away in their case, only to find over time, you do away with the case, at first putting them away into the top of your handbag, but eventually find them somewhere at the bottom, no case in sight?

When does something transition from being worthy of love and care to being just a thing?

In our feature article for this month Suzanne Anderssen explores the concept of Preciousness – how well do we care for our “things” and our body? Are we simply preserving them in a functional kind of way, or are we deeply treasuring of our “things”, our body and our Being?

“Our bodies have grown up and while the capacity to treat them with the utmost love, care and preciousness we afforded the newborn is still available to us, we find ourselves behaving and treating our body far less than this preciousness we deserve and desperately want.”

Here we present several articles that continue to explore ways to have preciousness be our every day ...

Ditch your New Year's Resolutions and make true change instead

2018 is here. Have you made your New Year’s Resolutions yet? This article might save you the trouble . . .

"With true Self-Care there is another way that consistently supports you having a life-style that is deeply loving and nurturing."

Dressing as beautifully as I feel

Do we feel like we need to make excuses for ourselves when we dress up or are we actually allowed to be dressing as beautifully as we like whenever we like? Kate Robson explores the relationship between what we choose to wear and how we feel inside.

"What’s with the baggy, daggy clothes ladies?! The covering up? You are beautiful, you all have curves, where are they?"

Hello Humanity – We need to talk about your breath

Our breath is precious and how we choose to breathe can have a huge effect on our inner quality. Joel Levin humorously explores how we often allow the world to dictate the pace and rhythm of our breath and offers an antidote to this.

"If our breath can be changed by our experience of the world around us, then changing our breath may well change how we experience the world."

Make-up: Confirming the beauty within

Rachael Evans explores how make-up can be used to celebrate our inner beauty, rather than wearing it as a mask to hide behind. Our upcoming Girl to Woman Festival in January 2018 celebrates this fact.

"This is where the joy of make-up can be used to play with, experiment with and celebrate the gorgeous-ness that is within every single woman and girl in this world."

Living Health from within

Read how Coleen Hensey went from being a woman who lived in drive and striving to excel and compete, to learning how to reconnect to the precious, delicate, deeply feminine and truly sexy woman she is.

"The hard and super competent woman was a head trick supported by shoulder pads – not me at all."

Letter to my body

Dragana Brown lived a cycle of abusing her body and eventually discovered that ‘preciously’ is the only way our body wants to be treated.

“You dear Body always found a way to communicate with me – I on the other hand like a tantrum-ing toddler stubbornly and paradoxically kept refusing to so much as lend you my ears.”

Breast Cancer – Getting the support you truly need

Dr Jane Barker explores what happens if we get a breast cancer diagnosis:

"Remember this is your body and the choices are yours. Making an informed choice and the right choice for you is really important."

Presentations re-commence January 2018

Entering into a new year is an opportunity to commit and care for ourselves like we are the most precious being in the world – no different to that of a young baby. To build this care requires more than just a mental concept or new year's affirmation. It requires an action or movement towards exploring what it is to truly care for ourselves.

With Esoteric Yoga we are offered the space to implement this action to discover how key our body is in re-establishing a quality of care and gentleness towards ourselves.

Esoteric Yoga always starts with the fact that we are already amazing and precious, therefore it is not about striving to get to that point, but more so about surrendering to this fact. The modality of Esoteric Yoga re-introduces a way to be and move with ourselves that is in complete respect and honour of the preciousness we are. Through stop moments and simple movements we get to experience how it is to move gently and to bring a level of care and tenderness to our body and toward ourselves.

It is from the quality of these movements and the focus on bringing our full presence to what we are doing that we begin to re-establish the most powerful relationship we could ever have – and that is with our body as a woman.

Within each Esoteric Yoga session we come to know through our own experience felt from our body – a ‘marker’ or ‘reference point’ that confirms and respects the preciousness of who we are. This establishes a quality or standard from which to be and move from in the world and to also discern what is acceptable or not from others.

The everyday practicality of Esoteric Yoga offers a constant opportunity to hold dear our relationship with our body as fundamental to our relationship with ourselves.

Esoteric Yoga is suitable for all ages. Further information on the modality including programs can be found at the Esoteric Yoga website or through the Esoteric Yoga Stillness Program for Women, a series of annual programs delivered specifically for women.
