Esoteric Women's Health Newsletter May 2018

Welcome to our May newsletter – as we approach Mother's Day we felt to explore what it means to be a mother, and to explore all the different ways we can offer 'mothering' to others in our lives, regardless of whether we are a biological mother or not.

We explore the natural nurturing quality that is innate in all women, and how this can support all others around us. Our feature article for this month explores this topic.

Whether we are caring for children, elderly parents, clients, work colleagues, friends or anyone else, it is vitally important to care for ourselves first. How many of us do not do this and end up exhausted? In this edition, we explore the erroneous belief that caring for ourselves is somehow "selfish", and work to understand that it is actually the most important ingredient in being able to offer a true quality of care to others.

Please also see our events section for details on the Breast Cancer Care Retreats in Sydney (9 September) and Northern NSW (4 November) and the Women in Livingness workshop (8 July), as well as regular Well-being for Women presentations and Esoteric Yoga classes.

Please enjoy our newsletter – and appreciate the amazing woman you are.

With love,

How is it really for mothers?

As we approach Mother’s Day once again we can ponder on the many different ways that women “mother”, regardless of whether or not they are actually a biological mother and have given birth to children or not.

Every woman on the planet can 'mother' – how often do we support people at work, offering them advice – how often do young women babysit other people’s children, offering them care and discipline and “mothering”?

How is it really for mothers? Or women in general? What are we told about what it means to be a 'good' mother and how much of this do we buy into – often we can run with what the outside world is telling us rather than trusting our own innate inner knowing.

"Mothering includes a woman rearing her biological and non-biological offspring, but it also equally encompasses her mothering others beyond her immediate family in a way that embraces people without imposing, imparts wisdom without judging, guides without dictating – all from a deep acceptance of the vast reservoir of wisdom she holds within."

Motherhood 101: an all-encompassing motherhood

"Yes, by virtue of a woman’s biology she holds the potential of expressing in a mothering way, but the quality of this is entirely dependent on the woman’s relationship with herself – we completely debase the notion that self-care and self-nurturing are selfish."

"A message to all mothers: It is wiser to mother from your innate knowing rather than from the ideals and beliefs that flood your head."

Can I be fulfilled without being a mother?

"I have always had this far away feeling that maybe there is something else for me to do in this life. For so long I did not want to allow this feeling in; I could not imagine being fulfilled in life as a woman without having my own children."

"How about empowering us women, and let us feel that it’s ok to live our life without being a mother? That I am enough, just by being me."

Motherhood: what I learned when I became a mother

Sharon shares what she learned while being mother to 7 children - the most important lesson being that to care for herself was not selfish, in fact it was the opposite.

"Over the past 30 years, I have gradually begun to understand that as a person I do matter, and have seen that in not honouring this fact and also feeling that I am not worth it, it is easy for me to buy into the whole idea that I should or ought to compromise myself for the “sake of my kids”."

I not only love my Mum, I adore her . . . what a revelation!

"For as long as I can remember I grew up thinking I didn’t love my mum and worse, I blamed my mum for everything, constantly telling her what she was doing wrong and how she needed to change."

"We just happened to be each other’s biggest reflections – constantly reflecting to each other all the ways we did not love and adore ourselves."

Best Mother's Day Gift ever!

Hello MOTHER’S DAY! Aaahh. A day when I can drop the ball. What ball? My wife/mother persona ball. Let’s chat . . .

"How is your relationship surviving your mother/wife persona?"

"The Best Mother’s Day gift ever is to start looking at this and how it all plays out, and really make sure I am checking in with myself daily to ensure I am just as accounted for as everyone else."

Breast Cancer Care Retreats, Australia

Sunday, 9th September 2018 – Sydney

Sunday, 4th November 2018 – Wollongbar, Northern NSW

These one-day retreats offer support to women who have currently or previously been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as their carers/partners or family. Retreats are presented by health professionals, some of whom have had personal experience with breast cancer, sharing their learnings and their understanding of this disease.

These retreats are incredibly supportive for women who have been impacted by breast cancer. The retreats offer a space for a woman to truly stop and re-evaluate the way she is living, is she truly caring for herself.

"I have witnessed women turning their lives around, using this ‘disaster’ as an opportunity to deepen their connection to themselves, their body, their grace and their wisdom."

Women in Livingness Workshop

Brisbane – Sunday 8 July 2018

Natalie Benhayon

Join us for this full-day workshop presented by Natalie Benhayon, founder of Esoteric Women's Health.

How much as women do we need to get really honest about what is going on in our lives, how we truly feel, how we are dealing with (or just coping with) life?

Women in Livingness workshops offer an incredibly supportive space to explore all of this.

The theme for the July workshop is:

“Understanding Self Worth - your key to unlocking the confident you.”

Lack of Self-Worth and Self-Doubt are the terrible twins that sabotage women from their otherwise innate confidence and authority. How do we truly feel about ourselves?

We have all had moments where we feel confident and there is no doubting ourselves, however for some these moments are few and far between and the norm can often be a constant doubting of ourselves and a feeling of not being good enough or that what we do is never enough.

There is an innate knowing that lies deep within all women. By connecting to this knowing we support ourselves to know who we are and to be confident and know our worth regardless of what life presents to us.

Well-being for Women Presentations

Well-being for Women events are regular presentations held throughout the world that offer a space for women to explore what health and well-being truly means, and how we can access this in our day-to-day lives.

These groups explore a wide variety of topics including stress, exhaustion, sleep, food, relationships, self-worth, self-care, periods, menopause and more.
