Symptom relief or healing?

When we go to visit the doctor, are we seeking relief from our symptoms, or true healing?

Usually when we go to the doctor we want our symptoms to go away, without caring for what got them there. If we are honest, we just want to feel better so that we can get on with our lives, in the way that we want to. We usually want a pill or a potion – or a bit of magic, medically speaking – to make us feel better.

But symptoms are there for a reason. If we do not address the reason that things are happening, then things will happen again, and again. Symptoms are like bamboo – you can prune it on the surface, and raze it to the ground, but if the root system is not eradicated, then it will just come back again, and potentially in another place!

It is important to deal with symptoms, but to truly return the body to true health and vitality, we need to heal, which is to simply deal with the root cause of our symptoms.

The process of healing

The process of healing has to come from self-love, for without it, it is merely for relief and therefore there is no true healing.

"The livingness is our way to heal – the way we conduct the physical body through the day, in all that we do, is the greatest form of healing, or it can be the cause of all our harm."
