“Souvenirs of Love” – what is love truly and what is keeping us from living it?

It dawned on me today that I am a hoarder of moments of love. Holding on to these moments for dear life, as if they were a rarity, I stuff them into a corner of my memory.

Treasuring these mementos or trophies of times gone past where I felt love or loved, I go back to them in moments of despair to confirm: “See, all is not that bad. See, there is someone loving me. See, there are moments where …” etc. I use them to relieve myself of the massive tension I feel every day because I choose to be a part of and live so many situations that have nothing to do with love and who I am, but instead are all about who is right and who is wrong, who is good and who is bad. Defending a life that is not lived in its true purpose and glory.

But are these souvenirs of love truly what love is all about? Are these moments truly love, or were they moments of emotional bonding, of colluding with another, moments of confirming our comfortable ways? Insisting in living out our ill patterns, as good or righteous as they may seem? What if they have nothing at all to do with Love but all to do with elation, a relief from the downside of life and are our drug of choice, amongst many other unsupportive choices, to numb the intense pain of not living who we truly are.

Our natural state of being is Love

We are made of Love (God) and are quintessential Love, unemotional unadulterated Love. However we as a whole choose not to live it. I chose to not live it for a very, very long time and accepted the glittering crumbs of moments of emotional elation, the highs that are sprinkled throughout each year as we revolve around the sun, time and time again, which are most misunderstood as being love. But Love is anything but that. Love is our essence, love is who we are, love is God.

"The matter of knowing God, is simply the restoration of forgotten memory."

Serge Benhayon Heart Chakra Manual, 1999

So what is true love and what is keeping us from living it?

We may say that we do not yet in full completely remember and comprehend or understand what true Love is and how to live it every moment. But we can start with the knowing that Love is the most natural state of being to us – we are made of it. And that it is a great start to let go of all that is not love and to allow what is naturally within us to appear, so that we can be who we all truly are in all moments of life and not just in parts; and in rare ones at that.

It has become super clear to me that letting go of any emotional hurts, attachments and investments, the cupboards including their contents, is essential in healing the past and to now be living who I truly am, who I always was and always had the choice to live, had I been but willing to let go of my hurts and just live the truth of who I am.

The time has come to get serious about embracing and deeply appreciate all that is on offer to us all, all of humanity, all of the time. Love is the essence of all that is true.

"Love is where we come from, who we really are, what we are made of. It is this love that transcends us into the realms of awareness for us all to experience ‘the what is’ and the ‘what is not’. For only Love knows the difference between the two realms. Therefore seek love in all you do, feel love in all you do, express yourself in love through all you say. Then you will know what is real and what is not."
