Quinoa and lamb burgers
A versatile and delicious recipe that kids can lend a hand in making and will love to eat! Great for adults too – perfect for picnics, snacks and packed lunches.

Ingredients
- 100g quinoa
- 200mls water
- 500g minced lamb
- 5 cloves chopped garlic
- 10g fresh chopped basil
- 10g fresh chopped dill
- 10g fresh chopped coriander
- 1 medium egg
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Method
- Heat the oven to 180°C.
- In a saucepan add the quinoa to the water and bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until the water is absorbed and quinoa is cooked. Put aside and allow to cool until easy to handle.
- In a bowl mix the remaining ingredients together, then add the cooked quinoa, mixing well. You can use your hands for this.
- Mold the mixture into burger shapes, placing them on a tray prepared with parchment paper.
- Place in the oven and cook for 30-40 minutes depending on how well cooked you like your burgers.
- Serve on a bed of salad or in a bun with all the trimmings you love.
Inspiration and top tips
- Make the night before to allow the flavours to infuse and/or make double quantities to freeze
- Try using beef, turkey or a plant-based mince instead or replacing fresh herbs with dried ones
- This recipe can be made into a meatloaf or smaller burger bites served in lettuce cups as canapés
