Esoteric Connective Tissue – a powerful healing modality for my body and me

Esoteric Connective Tissue Therapy is a modality that has supported me to develop a much deeper level of connection to my body than I have ever had before.

Having taught yoga for many years, I thought I had an understanding and a connection to my body, however, it was not until I came to understand the role of the connective tissue in the body, through Esoteric Connective Tissue Therapy sessions, did I begin to see that how I move in my everyday life affects the flow of energy through the connective tissue.

The connective tissue is like a river system that flows through the whole of the body that connects all the muscles, tendons, ligaments, organs and bones, and extends throughout the entire body.

The connective tissue has a certain quality that responds to a gentleness and tenderness that invites the body to release. I have felt this physically in sessions on the table.

The feeling that comes to mind to best describe a session is what I imagine it would feel like to be a baby floating in the womb. My body feels light, expansive and whole, on the table I feel tension that has been holding in my body release and free up. It is so lovely to feel myself melt and expand. When I get off the table from a session I have a natural tendency to want to be more gentle and caring with myself as I know that what I have just experienced is something very ordinary yet deeply sacred - a return back to what I know is a more open and natural way for me to be in my body.

Through Esoteric Connective Tissue Therapy, I have come to understand the importance of my connective tissue and the wonder of how it communicates in the body through feelings of fluidity versus tightness, warmth versus cold, expansive versus contracted.

I have had the opportunity to feel how it flows or where it feels stuck. It is through the sessions and building a relationship with my connective tissue that I have become aware of the postural behaviours in my day to day life and if they truly support my wellbeing or not. As an example, I am much more aware of how I stand, how I sit at my desk, where my shoulders sit, if my chest is collapsing or not.

I now know that the quality in which I move my body and the posture that I sit, stand and walk in, affects the fluidity of the connective tissue and thus restores the natural flow of energy in my body. With each session, I feel an increase in energy, taller and more open in my posture and a sense of feeling confident and at ease in my body.
