Esoteric Teachings and Revelations volume I – A New Study for Mankind

Esoteric Teachings and Revelations is a healing handbook that casts a light on the choices we make every minute of every day; it highlights where we could possibly, just possibly, be more responsible – and thus live a much simpler, more fulfilled and joyous life. It invites contemplation and at the same time provides a breather from the torrents of information, advice and rules that are forever coming towards us and trying always to tell us what to do, how to behave, how to live a better life, and how to find happiness.

Within this book of quotes there are chapters on breath and meditation, on men and women, the current forms of religion, on love and on prophecy. The entries range from full and half page passages to one-liners that are so simple and direct in their delivery that they take your breath away.

What if everything that we are looking for is already inside of us?

This book resonates with what is within as it comes from the same source.

For example:

"Optimism – choosing not to feel what is really going on."

Serge Benhayon Esoteric Teachings & Revelations Volume I, ed 1, p 180

At first sight, one might like to protest against this seemingly ‘unfair’ announcement – but is it actually ‘optimism’ being debunked for what it really is? And what else does this simple quote reveal? We can all say that we much prefer optimism to pessimism, that we much prefer being around a cheerful person than around someone who is gloomy and downtrodden. But then, have you ever felt that you are being short-changed when bringing up a topic that required honesty and invited a bit of probing and questioning, only to be ‘shooshed up’ by an optimist saying something like “science will find a solution”, “it’ll all come out in the wash”, “every cloud has a silver lining”, or “she’ll be right” (as they say in Australia)?

The letdown, not to mention the condescension in such statements is very real and we have all felt it. And thus, and to repeat the question: is perhaps optimism as a stance here actually being debunked for what it really is? Are the ‘optimistic’ proclamations like the ones mentioned above making sure that we don’t dig deeper, and that we keep quiet, go on as we always have and that nothing ever really changes?

And here is another example:

"Humanity has replaced love with emotion, harmony with relaxation, bliss and calm; and joy with happiness. The replacements all need substances and or incidents to make them happen, whereas the originals only require you in full."

Serge Benhayon Esoteric Teachings & Revelations Volume I, ed 1, p 388

Everybody seeks happiness, or so it seems.

But again, are we being short-changed by the torrent of self-help books, magazine articles and ‘how-to’ instruction manuals and self-proclaimed experts that try to tell us how to live a happy life? But how do we ‘do happiness’, and what exactly is it? Of course, we all know and have experienced happy moments, but again – are we being short-changed?

  • How long has anybody ever managed to be happy for?

  • How many things do we need to buy, how much money do we need to spend, how far do we need to travel to be happy?

  • How do other people need to behave towards us so we can be happy?

  • And what about all the different definitions of happiness?

  • And does happiness mean that it is always something coming from outside of us?

Is it possible that we have opted for second best, have turned our backs on the innate qualities such as joy, harmony and love in the pursuit of marketable emotions such as relaxation, bliss, calm and happiness? Is this really what we are searching for, and is it possible there’s more to it than just ‘happiness’?

Esoteric Teachings & Revelations volume I invites us to stop and take a moment to reflect and ponder on its offerings. There is nothing in this book that sets out to prove anything, drive home a message or score some points. All that is here presented is based on the fact that we all already know – and that a gentle and loving re-awakening to this very fact is all that is needed.
